Big Sky wedding

comes to Bozeman

Kristen and David are Big Sky folks. Unlike people from all around the country that plan their wedding in Big Sky, Kristen and David brought all their friends from Big Sky to Bozeman! Family and friends from Georgia, Montana and other states joined them at the Rock'n TJ Ranch.

A few clouds brought a gentle shower before the ceremony and then gave way to the sun to shine upon this gathering. It was gorgeous.

It was a gorgeous event with attention to every beautiful detail, but for me, the "big ticket" item is LOVE! As a professional wedding photographer one can direct, pose and produce beautiful photos all day long, but the real images are about seeing and capturing the natural expression of LOVE. Yeap... that's right. When I capture that kind of imagery, I feel like I have done my job. And for me, that's the big paycheck.

That being said... here are a just of few of the wonderful moments from Kristen and David's wedding day.

Moments like this are big... really big. You can't stage it. It just happens.

And how about a margarita fountain!!!

I couldn't pass this one up. It's just the way I found it!

Jennie Lynn and I created this. I loved the visual contrasts.

I call this "pitch and trust"

Well, I can't tell you what was said, but it was obviously a bit embarrassing for the ladies and ... well... a guys moment!

The band came in from Nashville. Their "ride" was a cool old limo which the bride appropriated for her own use!

The next three images tell the story of the powerful love that ties these families together. As a father of two daughters, I can't keep a dry eye when these moments arise. The bond between father and daughter, mother and son is a powerful subject. Grab your tissues.

The band rocked the party. "Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies" from Nashville tore it up with covers from Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and many others.

Kristen and David, setting afloat on the big pond of life!

Paige and Steven

loving life, their horsies and doggies.

Paige and Steven are making the commitment in a week. We got together this evening and photographed at their home with their dogs and horses. Reba the lab puppy, Scruggs the veteran canine, Blue and Woody (the steed that gave me a ride).

Happy people, real people, great animals. I can't wait to photograph their wedding!

Oh, I love dogs!

Caroline and Jonathan

married in the full extent of the Law

Oh, so... Here are a few fun images from my recent Great Falls wedding.

You might recognize Judge Luth... Caroline's mother. She was the best wedding producer I've ever seen. I had so much fun shooting and working with Nancy. Carl and Nancy, thanks for your wonderful hospitality!

"ladies in waiting!"

Mother and daughter get down boogie!

Mom and Dad celebrate the event. Very happy!

Moonlight Basin Lodge wedding

Samantha and James

Last weekend took me to the beautiful surrounds of Moonlight Basin Lodge for the wedding of Samantha and James.

The weather was dramatic and wonderful. Actually it was a bit exciting when the wedding party progressed down the isle. I had to hold on to one of the standing arrangement of flowers for a few seconds so it didn't topple over. The flowergirl's rose petals took flight rather than hitting the ground! It was an amazing day in the mountains, as you see from this panorama.

My good friend John D. Russell was visiting from Manhattan Beach, CA. It was a pleasure to have him second shooting for me. We did some fun things with off camera flash and multiple flash during the reception. Not to mention the addition of his creative eye and hustle. Thanks John!!!!!

MOre later on this wedding.

Great Falls Wedding

Sarah and Joe plan for next year

While I was up in Great Falls last week, I met up with Sarah and Joe for engagement photos. Joe's a chopper pilot and Sarah is also professional military, keeping everything going in the right direction. We met early Saturday morning and shot by the river. It was great fun.

I was inspired by black and white images this time. Someone was commenting to me that b&w was "like" old school. I giggled to myself. Just wait a bit longer and old school will become new school! Just like fashion, good things come back around.

So enjoy the "about to be" new school imagery.

Sarah... you're a beautiful woman. Joe... you're a lucky man.
And well, shall speak the obvious? Jackson... you're a lucky dog!

I'm pleased to have the honor of photographing your wedding. Hat's off to our fine military.
